I had a call first thing in the morning from Rocky with the diagnoses, and they had a new alternator installed by 1pm. I didn't have to go through the hassle of renting a car since they had the repair completed so quickly. Thanks for everything American Tire and Service! Everyone is friendly and courteous. While waiting for my car, I heard several phone calls where the employee described work done or something checked or tested, and several of them were told there was NO CHARGE (whatever those circumstances were). When do you ever hear that? Anyway, I'm a happy customer. So why only 4 stars? Well, I save 5 stars for over the top perfection, and hardly anyone gets 5 from me. So, this is a GOOD review!

I went in for a brake job that was 2 years past due. My car would shake and vibrate before it stopped. When I called Rocky, he was able to pull up all my information. He knew exactly what need to be done. The car stops so much better. My only issues is the brakes are still squeaking. Looks like a follow up is needed.

I was worried it would be the same kind of deal when I tried to get my truck looked at but it was surprisingly very easy to get my truck in! The fact that you can schedule an appointment online and they are open on Saturdays is extremely helpful. I had someone calling me 20 minutes after I dropped my truck off with a clear idea of what repairs were needed as well as the cost. They check everything, not just the problem it presented for.i was able to get my truck on the same day. Pretty pleased with everything!

Bo B.6 months agoRecommends Yukon StarterI called Roger and Rocky to see about getting my vehicle towed in for a starter rebuild. they were quick to help and provided the name of a tow company that would assist. the starter was in fact out, they called with a price and i then told them i needed the oil sending unit also replaced. they said no problem. they had my truck in and out within 24 hours. other mechanics i contacted were "too busy" and might be able to get to it sometime the next week. The work ethic in New Mexico is not the greatest but these guys and the mechanics are always on their top game. i will recommend them for everything for everyone. not to mention they have my business for life. After thorough examination the crew found the real problem and fixed it quickly. I was contacted at every step of the way and when I expressed confusion I was shown exactly what they thought was causing the problem and how they intended to fix it. They did exactly that...fixed it. I was in and out in the same afternoon. Very accommodating and very professional. Will definitely take the truck back for the rest of the fix-its on my list. Was scared I had no way to pay for new tire, and oil service, my Mom nurse, groceries for my household, and shipping costs for Bulky Christmas gifts with only one credit card. John G.10 months agoRecommends Customer service and mechanical service goodI had taken in my vehicle for TPMS service and was replaced with a new TPMS. I was told that the TPMS service light will go off once I drive about 15 miles or so over 30 mph. so, I drove off the lot and while in Rio Rancho I received a call form Rocky that a piece of plastic was found underneath my truck as I drove off. So, i was in the area so I went back, sure enough it was the front spacer that the technician had broke off at the time he lifted the truck using a jack while replacing the TPMS. Rocky, was very apologetic and said he will immediately look into to replacing the part, he assured me that i can drive on further without any serious safety concerns. I felt good about this being told to drive safely. Well, I had to travel to Santa Fe by the time I shut off vehicle and start back for return the light on panel has not disappeared yet. I was frustrated, so I called Rocky and immediately told him of the light still on, so we arranged to take back the truck next day, look at it again and take care of it. So the next day, at the time the shop was very busy but they knew I was coming so got me in asap. After several hours, the technician explained to me of the problem, he drove himself in the truck and the light turned off now not so much annoying anymore. Luckily the spacer was found and was replaced at the same time. I appreciate the explanation to where I can understand what was going on and the immediate service for the problem the next day. Thank you

Mark D.11 months agoRecommends Honest, CourteousI needed a bumper to bumper inspection, called American early Thursday morning. Was able to get an appointment right away. I mentioned many concerns because my Subaru had 150k on it. After 2 Hours I received a call. A brake rotor and two steering parts needed to be replaced. An estimate was given and I said go ahead. An another call was received three hours later, the bill was a little less than the estimate, but still higher than other service centers. Having dealt with American before I was confident the job was done right and I didn't have to return. I voiced my concerns again and Rocky assured me the was fine and good for another 50K. I received a thorough print out of the inspection and I was on my way. The staff and mechanics are courteous, honest and take the time to explain their work and your options.

I was also somewhat surprised by the low cost of the service. American Tire is a long way from my home and I have to pass a number of repair shops to get there but I will continue to do so. They provide excellent service at reasonable prices. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

1 year agoRecommends Boat trailer supportI pulled in with my truck, camper and boat trailer. The trailer was missing a "Buddy Bearing". Jim got with NAPA representative and he had the replacements. Jim installed both of them in minutes and I was on my way. Maybe a 30 minute delay at most.

They also recommended a few other services needed since they hand the water pump out, like replacing the timing belt and thermostat. They finished the car that same day and it's been running great!! I always take all my vehicles here because they are no pressure, and they let you know what you can or can't live without.

For example, instead of telling me that I needed to change some coolant tubes in the car; they clearly explained that while there were no cracks in the tubes currently, they are started to wear. Furthermore, even the mechanic who changed my oil asked me about the tire/axel lubricant system on my car, which showed me that he was paying attention to the car as a whole.

They inspected the tire very carefully and concluded that the tire just needed a simple repair and did not need to be replaced. I was very pleased. Once again American tire made no attempt to sell more than was needed.

They have always given me a ride to my house if I can't wait for my vehicle at the shop. They call me with a price to see if I want to do the service or not( I might need to save money). I have taken all my vehicles to them. I will need four tires for my truck in two weeks and will take it to them. The mechanics work hard and so does the staff at the front of the desk. They are AAA approved. No company is perfect and they really try to do the best job for the customers. Keep up the great job. A customer for life.

Other filters -- cabin filter, AC filter, dust filter and brake fluid should have been changed. Next time my car needs service other than an oil change I will take it to the dealer.

Greg P.1 year agoRecommends Comprehensive, honest, friendlyAcura MDX service: 4-wheel alignment. Three wheels were adjusted to spec. One wheel was out of camber by .3 degrees with no camber adjustment possible. Service manager recommended replacing fixed rod with an adjustable, after market rod for $300. He provided pictures of new rod. I said to keep original rod. He said that the car might continue to pull one way (honest). Luckily, the car tracks straight now. Thanks for the work.

Some recommendations were made, a few simple things here and there, I will bring my car back for these minor repairs to be made. I took them new rims and tires I had bought for my truck to be mounted, balanced and filled with nitrous and the work was done great. Also took them back to get the pressures checked after driving awhile and they were very willing to help me out. All the employees from management on down were very professional and nice. The main reason I would refer them to anyone is for the reason that they went over and beyond my expectations. The day I took my truck in for this work, I was taking care of my 2 year old and had just picked up my oldest son from his half day at school. My wife was at work and I could not find anyone to pick us up while the work was being completed. My youngest was ready for his nap and this was my time to get things done around the house. They offered to either lend me a vehicle or give me a ride home while the work was being done. I decided to take the ride home and they picked me up after they completed the work. This was great customer service and the reason why I gave them 5 stars. Also I am a firefighter and they gave me a first responder discount. I highly recommend this place!!!!!

After returning home I received an email from American Tire on a free wiper replacement special on my next oil change which would not have occurred before the special ended. I called them up and they said, come on back, we will put the wipers on. They are always ready to work with you so you go away satisfied.

Lisa M.2 years agoRecommends Great experience!I took my car to American Tire on a Saturday morning, around 9:30 a.m. without any notice to them. I just showed up, out of the blue! My brakes had started making noise the day before, and I was just going to leave my car there while they worked me in, hoping to pick it up the next Monday or Tuesday. Imagine my surprise that they had my car all ready to go by 2:00 p.m. the SAME DAY, and the work included pads and rotors! I'm writing this review because I have also had bad experiences there (and have posted reviews online about them, too)...but it was always with one employee who treats customers with an absolute lack of respect. However, he wasn't there this time and Rocky was at the desk and I've always had a fantastic experience when dealing with Rocky. I figure that if I'm vocal about complaining, that I should also be vocal when I'm pleased. Which I am...very, very pleased. If I could deal with Rocky every time, this is the only shop I'd ever take any of my vehicles!!

John S.2 years agoRecommends Excellent ServiceI dropped my 9 year old Prius off for a 90,000 mile service in the morning asking if they could finish the work by 1 PM. I was told, barring any unexpected problems, I could pick up the car at 1. As usual, the service was done on time and well. I am very happy with the service at American Tire. I have been bringing both of my Prius' there for about 7 years now and have always been treated courteously, and professionally . And the work has been done right the first time, and at a fair price

The person at the front desk was not very friendly, but the service was provided in a timely manner and that was greatly appreciated.

I called Doug at American Tire after my van started and told him I need a battery for my 2005 Toyota, he started a ticket and when I arrived they checked the battery and I did need a battery. I was on my way within 20 minutes! Thank you American Tire for being my life line!! This was not the first time they were there when I needed them.

TOM C2 years agoI used American Tire's on-line coupons to get a great price on an oil change, tire rotation and balancing. When I called for an appointment, they told me exactly what it would cost, which I appreciated. Everyone was professional and friendly, and the work got done in the time they said it would. In retrospect, the only thing that would have made it better would be some feedback, like what condition my tires were in, or whether my oil was really dirty (I had waited longer than the recommended time for a change) -- that kind of information. But all in all, I was very happy with American Tire and would recommend it.

I had a real problem with rats making a nest in my husband's truck and the young man did a superb job of getting that nasty stuff out of the engine. That is what happens when you live in the country..rats can get in your engine area and destroy it.

Anonymous3 years agoI take my car to change oil and filter, had no leaks of any kind, after the service the car began to leak oil from the filter housing, you guys told that the hosing filter was old and needed replacing they give me a quote, although was not agreed to having to replace it because my car never had leaked oil I find a OEM hosing for half the price that you guys quote me, take the car back to your shop installed it but still leaking oil, something else went wrong and I'm no longer interested in wasting my time and money, Thanks.

Had to take it to Walmart to patch it for $10 my tires are still under warranty. PAT L3 years agoI brought in a coupon not realizing it was for another business but you beat it and with even two more quarts of oil than they had advertised. anow that's really super good business!!!!

WAYNE B3 years agoI don't appreciate "bait and switch" tactics you use. A coupon from VAL PAK should be honored at the advertised price. An oil change coupon should include the full price, not additional add-ons such as additional labor. If you want to charge $37.00 for an oil change, the customer should be informed "up front" before the work is done that the coupon price of $24.95 is not valid. "Bait and Switch" leaves a bad taste in the customers' mouth! NOW THE COUPON SAID THERE WILL BE A DISPOSAL FEE AND TAXES THAT THE CUSTOMER HAVE TO PAY. I AM TRUELY SORRY YOU GOT A BAD TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH FOR A COMPANY THAT CARES ABOUT YOU AND YOUR CAR. JOHN S3 years agoAs usual, the folks at American were superb! They scheduled my appointment, got all the work done correctly and on time and charged a fair price. They are a great team and I like having them on my side!

Anonymous3 years agoCame in for an oil change without an appointment and was in and out in about an hour. The staff is always so friendly, and unlike most places, they don't tell me there is a million things wrong with my car. My family has been coming here for years and I highly recommend them!

DAVID D3 years agoA great job overhauling my engine and transmission. My new Cooper Tires are very smooth riding. Rocky is very customer oriented and honest. Enjoyed doing business with American Tire and will go back when I need service again. Excellent job well done and highly recommend to anyone needing service.

Anonymous3 years agoThe guy at the counter seemed very uptight & agitated. I've never seen him before. I had a flat repaired & it cost me $28.00. I thought that was WAY to high to pay. I am very very disappointed with your service & your prices at this time. I have been going to you for years, but will be taking my business else where from now on.

BO B3 years agoHad to call several times throughout the day to check the status. After a 3 hour service turned into 6 hours. Had tires rotated and service tech failed to reconfigure tire position for TPMS. Overcharged, 1.5 QTS of oil over the limit for vehicle per manufacturer.

Anonymous3 years agoI always have great reviews for American Tire, but this last time around was not a good visit. Someone I've never seen there at the front desk, an older man was very mean and talked down to me, this has never been my experience there. I told a friend what had happened and he said the same thing happened to him, and he even called to complain unfortunately he said he hasn't been back since. I will try one more time but if this happens agin I will go elsewhere. Stick with the regular guys, Rocky and and I cant remember the other guys name but they are both very kind. This other guy is going to help you lose business.

LAURI M3 years agoFriendly and helpful person at desk. Like the way they have the service tech come in and explain the problem. They don't try to push unnecessary repairs. Waiting time for repairs was acceptable.
